Armenia is emerging as a new technological hub. For the past several years Armenian tech sector retains 27%+ consistent annual growth. And in 2017 turnover of the IT sector equaled to 7% of total GDP of the country. But the main reason to consider Armenia as a living and working destination for the tech professionals is the variety of companies with a global mission, strong teams, and challenging tasks. Local companies enter the international market early on and compete successfully, while global companies open branches and labs in Armenia.

The second part of the guide covers 50 more companies that make significant input and put Armenia to the international tech map.


360 stories
360Stories is a platform and online community featuring 7,000 user-generated travel stories, each captured in high-definition 360-degree video or photography. Each story is augmented with history and local insights, written and verified by the team. The company started off featuring only Armenian sights. Ministry of Culture of Armenia assisted the company in the process, helped capture notable places of Armenia. As for now, 360Stories' collection includes multiple cities and activities.


Besides exploring the world in VR and AR, visitors of the website can buy one-day tours and attractions online in the destinations presented on the site. 360Stories is changing the process of booking travel activities and making it more immersive.
Beaxy
Beaxy is an all-in-one cryptocurrency exchange platform, it is a secure environment with a variety of tools for the beginners and advanced traders. The partnered cyber-security firm fully audit the exchange. The platform offers features like automatic sweeping, phishing prevention, 2FA, IP whitelisting. With 225,000 transactions per second per pair, Beaxy is faster than anything else in crypto. Beaxy also introduced its native exchange token (BXY) and offers additional benefits to those using BXY on the platform.


Cisco
Cisco is the US-headquartered multinational corporation that designs, manufactures and sells networking equipment. The company was founded in 1984 and currently has over 80,000 employees worldwide. The company established presence in Armenia through the acquisition of the Armenian company Memoir Systems, a provider of embedded memory technology, at the end of 2014. The end goal of the acquisition was to increase the manufacture of affordable and high-speed memory for existing ASIC-Cisco switches and circuits.

Click2Sure is a full-stack digital insurance platform which enables retailers, service providers, distributors and brokers to chose out of 20 custom developed insurance products and incorporate it at the point of sale. The company offers automated claims processing and administration with full policy life cycle management. The company headquarters in Cape Town, while Click2Sure's development team is located in Yerevan, Armenia.

DataArt
DataArt is a global technology consultancy that specializes in building software products and enterprise systems, system modernization services, provides services of production system maintenance, digital transformation and innovation, and security testing services for a product or infrastructure. The company employs over 2,800 professionals in 22 locations across the globe.

In 2019 DataArt announced the opening of the research and development (R&D) and sales office in Armenia. Yerevan office will support the company's activity across all the spheres but mainly focus on quality assurance (QA) and support, as well as business development. The office will become fully operational in June of 2019, with 30 dedicated employees on board by the end of the year.

Deloitte in Armenia is a part of Deloitte CIS. The company established presence in Armenia in 2012. The team is providing audit, tax, consulting, and financial advisory services to public and private clients from various industry sectors, like Financial Services, Funds/Asset Managers, Manufacturing companies, IT and Telecommunication large operators.


DigiFence Technology
DigiFence is a Yerevan-based company providing solutions for data management and protection from online and offline threats. The company works with clients regardless of their size or industry. DigiFence establishes a holistic security program on 4 different levels: basic, foundational, organizational, enterprise, customized to the industry and IT environment needs of a client.


Disperse
Disperse is an artificial intelligence construction startup focused on improving on-site productivity utilizing visual recognition and computer vision techniques. CV keeps up with the progress and detects anomalies, 360° site scanning option captures every little detail. While the possibility of continuous feedback engaging everyone involved in the process helps to optimize the workflow and flag early warnings.

Company is working on some of the largest residential projects in London, while the team of around 35 people is based out of London, the UK, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Yerevan, Armenia.

EarlyOne is a mobile queue and customer flow management system. The startup was founded in Armenia in 2016. The platform is operating for banks, financial and healthcare organizations, telecommunication companies, and governmental institutions.

Earlyone is already available in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia. The company is planning to expand to Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, and other countries.


Embry Tech
Embry Tech develops hardware and software solution for a shoe to turn it into biometric data tracking and wellness monitoring device. Patent-pending technology measures weight change, number of steps, cardio and sitting time, calories burned throughout the day. Plus, the app gives wellness insights. With time Embry Tech is planning to turn the shoe into a medical device gathering all the health data.

The company was founded in 2017, the whole team is based in Yerevan, Armenia. In 2018, Embry Tech closed our pre-seed investment round led by Tim Draper backed firm, SmartGateVC.

EPAM is a leading global product development, digital platform engineering, and digital and product design agency operating since 1993. Yerevan office was established in 2014. The company employs over 33,000 people, with close to 200 of specialists working in the Yerevan office.

Same as within numerous branches of EPAM Systems, Armenian office launched EPAM eKids. It is a 1-month program for around 30 children different schools in Yerevan and from nearby cities which introduces programming principles and provides necessary training and environment to start in the field.

The product is used by event teams at Google, University of Oxford, Honda, and a variety of clients from different spheres.

EventGeek was created by two teams, one coming from San-Francisco, the US, the other from Yerevan, Armenia. The startup was founded by 3 investors, among them are Y Combinator, American seed accelerator, and HIVE Ventures found investing in the Armenian tech ecosystem.

Fimetech is a software company specializing in Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Network, Image and Video Processing, Robotics, Indoor and Outdoor positioning and mapping, Internet Of Things, Embedded Software, and other technologies. The company applies those skills to robotic construction, firmware, and software programming, different platform support, DSP module generators, to research and adapt new technologies.

Heltun is an Armenian company working on engineering, manufacturing, installation, and technical support of Smart Home devices and products. The company works on items like the heating thermostat, light control devices, security systems, different sensors modules, applications for remote control, and a vast variety of other tools. Based in Yerevan Heltun sells its products across Europe.


Improvis
Improvis is a Yerevan-based company founded in 2012 by scientists and mathematicians. The company designs and develops Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence specialized software. Besides, Improvis provides a variety of services for desktop and mobile platforms: 2D/3D patterns detection, stereo vision, optimization and speedup of the existing algorithms. In addition, the company is working on scientific research, game development, and even graphic design.

InOne is an app to keep all the loyalty cards in one place and access them at any time. Besides, the platform informs on sales, offers, new collections, and other relevant information.


Innova
Innova AM is a part of Moscow-headquartered IT company that publishes computer games in 4game Center, its own desktop application. Innova AM is developing online games management and anti-cheating and anti-hacking systems. Overall, the company employs around 250 specialists, but the Yerevan office of the company is no more than 10 professionals.


Instigate Design
Instigate is an Armenian engineering company with hardware and software teams founded in 2004. The company specialized in system level design of electronic systems, EDA specific software design, and parallel programming. Design services provided by the company range from software design and quality assurance to comprehensive application engineering with an emphasis on audio and video coding and communication.

As a way to prepare new hires the company opened training department, Instigate Training Center. In 2008 it was re-organized into an NGO, and in 2011 it was officially registered as a Foundation. Training Center helps university graduates and junior specialists bridge the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. Instigate Training Center runs training in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Stepanakert, Goris, Ijevan, Kapan, Hrazdan, Akhalkalaki and Ninotsminda, and even expanded its operation to Georgia.

Leviathan
Leviathan is a local company founded in 2015. Leviathan is a non-anonymous peer-to-peer trading, information management, and communication platform that aims to eliminate mediators and create an environment free from censorship, unfair competition, and filtering traffic. First of all, the platform targets news and niche music distribution.

Besides news and music distribution network, Leviathan develops Metax, P2P distributed system for storing and transferring online data without intermediation, centralized server or authority. Metax also enables developers to build their own cloud infrastructure using the exclusively open source code and SW published under a free license.

The third product of the company is Cut it Short messenger. It supports end-to-end encryption based on a P2P distributed network.

Macadamian is a Canadian UX and software design and development company specializing in solutions for the healthcare industry. The company works side by side with the clients' team to assess current technologies and plan for the future improvement, works on a project from ideation to market-ready, provides team and skills augmentation. Besides, the company provides services in a variety of fields from strategy consulting and user interface design to rapid prototyping and legacy migration.

Menu.am is a food-delivery service operating in Armenia. The company is working with 500 restaurants and specialized stores of Yerevan. The company has been operating since 2012.


National Instruments
National Instruments is a well-established producer of automated test equipment and virtual instrumentation software operating since 1976. The Armenian branch started its operation in 2007, and more than a decade later employs around 70 professionals. The company's current major projects include the elaboration of prototypes of 5G connection systems, testing of various functions of self-driving cars, application of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and testing of micro schemes for this direction.

The company was founded in 2005, and 2 years later opened an office in Yerevan, Armenia. Currently, over 70 professionals are working at the Yerevan office.


Optym
Optym provides automation and optimization software to transportation and logistics companies in the airline, railroad, trucking, and mining industries. The company was founded in 2000 in the US. Later Optym opened offices across the US, in Australia, India, Chili, and Armenia. The Yerevan office of the company was opened in 2007. Currently, it is the second-largest Optym's office in the world with over 80 employees.

Oracle is the world's largest developer of software for corporate clients and a major provider of server hardware with hundreds of thousands of employees across 184 locations.

In 2013 the Armenian Government and the American Oracle Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding stating that Oracle will provide assistance to Armenia within the framework of its educational programs, assessment and expanded application of Oracle solutions in public agencies, and creation of an Oracle excellence center in the country.

Year later, in the middle of 2014 the company announced opening an office in Armenia through the acquisition of a local company LiveLook. LiveLook was a provider of cloud-based, real-time collaboration with innovative technology for co-browsing and screen sharing. LiveLook has become a part of Oracle Service Cloud and the first R&D office of the company in Yerevan.

Pixomatic is a web and mobile photo editor created by the Armenian software development company Qube specializing in image processing, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. The app allows users to remove and change image backgrounds, add blur, customize colors and apply selective adjustments.

Quality Testing Lab is a Yerevan-based company providing a full range of software testing services at any level of software development. Shadowmatic
Triada Studio is a Yerevan-based award-winning animation, motion design and visual effects studio with over 26 years in action. Along with creative services the Studio is working on game development. In 2015 the company successfully launched Shadowmatic, a 3D realistic puzzle game for iOS, tvOS and Android platforms.

Steven - PEI Development
Steven is an e-commerce startup headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden with a small team of developers working from Yerevan, Armenia. Steven is an app that helps to settle debts or split expenses between friends. The app calculates who owes who and handles transactions through the app.


Synergy
Synergy Armenia is a subsidiary of Synergy International Systems, a global software company providing a full range of services: software implementation, subject matter expertise, consulting, training and support, and integration with other systems. The company delivers service to governments, international organizations, non-profits, and the private sector all over the world.

Synergy was founded in 1997. A year later the company opened a subsidiary branch and Global Learning Center in Yerevan, specializing in research and development, quality assurance, and technical support. In 2012, Synergy founded a branch in Artsakh, Nagorno Karabakh that currently employs around 30 specialists. In 2016 the company also opened an office in Gyumri, second largest city in Armenia.

Overall, Synergy is heavily involved in the further development of the Armenian tech market. The company organizes internships, study tours and IT summer schools for future professionals.


TUMO - Center for Creative Technologies
Step aside from the traditional tech companies, TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is a new kind of after-school educational centers that gives children tools to succeed in the modern world. The TUMO learning program is free-of-charge activities for the children age 12 up to 18 focused around 14 learning spheres: programming, game development, graphic design, animation, robotics, motion design, 3D Modeling, animation, and other creative fields.

Beside local coaches and tutor supervising workshops and projects all year round, every year over 100 technology and design professionals from around the world come to TUMO.

Currently, over 19000 teens attend TUMO in 4 different locations - Yerevan, Gyumri, Dilijan, and Stepanakert. In 2018 TUMO opened international centers in Paris and Beirut. And in the upcoming years, TUMO is going to open two more centers in Koghb and Masis, Armenia and Moscow, Russia.

The platform allows to connect with an existing domain or create a new one. Ucraft customizable designer templates can be used to build anything from a blog to an all-in-one e-commerce site. The platform supports the integration of a number of marketing, analytics, design and other tools, and for the website promotion, Ucraft has its own SEO app.

WICASTR
WICASTR is a cloud platform for sending content to the very edges of the network. That, in turn, helps create wireless networks and run applications, a wireless hop away to smart devices, connected objects, and sensors without a faraway cloud.

The company was founded in London in 2013. Outside of the UK Wicastr has offices in Montreal, Canada, and Yerevan, Armenia. Among the investors that supported the company was Granatus Ventures, Armenian venture capital firm. Wicastr also participated in the program for startups realized by the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, largest technology business incubators and IT development and one of the biggest in the region.


Xilinx
Xilinx is a US-based technological company known for inventing field-programmable gate array and programmable SoCs (system on a chip). The company has offices in 9 different locations and in May 2019 Xilinx established its new research and development center in Yerevan. The country was chosen due to its history of being one of the centers of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) in USSR. EDA tools for FPGA are the main driver of innovation in this field. In search of EDA talents, Xilinx launched the office in Armenia.
